Amoury d'Amour

Shall I compare thee to a blade of grass
That grows in sand dunes by the sea
Long and thin and sharp as glass
Oh how thy wit can woundeth me
Or are you more the biting kind
Like tigers raging for the throat
When all I've done is speak my mind
An innocent, untimely quote
Or yet the blacksmith's hammer blow
Used in self defence you claim
To smash me when you think you know
That I'm the one to take the blame
Then there's the sharp sword of revenge
When scorn imagined rules your mind
A grievance that you must avenge
And take it out on all mankind
Of all your weapons, one's the worst
The one that makes me weep and cower
Preceded by a fierce outburst:
Deny your love, for even one hour
